the form below. Please indicate if you'd like to be a coordinator at the state
or regional level (and what area) and if you'd like to serve on a committee.
Coordinator duties
Regional coordinators are responsible for keeping the volunteers in their region in touch
with each other and keeping track of who's doing what. They make sure that requests for
proclamations have been sent to local and regional government officials in their areas and
track responses. They should keep a calendar of any planned events, and work with the other
committees and coordinators to help people in their region get the resources they need.
NSIAD 2002 Committees
Media - Helps prepare press releases and press kits. Targets national media and makes
sure national press kits get out. Works on ways to get NSIAD noticed, and helps regional
coordinators track media contacts. Fields requests for interviews and helps media personnel
find spokespeople in various areas of the country.
Documents - Updates, edits, and prepares NSIAD documents: press releases, fact
sheets, quote sheets, the bill of rights and Favazza's endorsement, and brochures.
Government proclamations - Edits letter requesting proclamations, prepares request
kit, guides local volunteers through request process, and, working with coordinators,
tracks requests and results.
Target sites - Prepares lists of likely places to send informationa nd press kits, both
generally on the local level and specifically on the national level.
Event planning - Provides ideas and support to local volunteers preparing
info-distribution events. Generates ideas for possible awareness events.
Coordinator oversight - Keeps track of which coordinators are working where, and recruits
people for areas that need coordinators. Keeps coordinator list/database on site up to date.
